Internship programs work-school: a growth opportunity for software and people
In June, Replica Sistemi – Zucchetti welcomed four fourth-year IT students from the Enrico Fermi Technical Institute in Mantua for an internship as part of the 'Alternanza Scuola-Lavoro' (School-Work Alternation internship program) project. The students' task was to create a mobile version of the EasYard TV monitor, by improving its graphics and simplifying its operation for users.
Pietro, Riccardo, Zoe and Amritpal worked on adapting EasYard, a YMS developed by Replica Sistemi to organise and monitor the entire life cycle of vehicles within logistics yards, for use on mobile devices. The mobile interface aims to provide operators with a simpler, faster and more intuitive experience.
From concept to development

Initial training
On the first few days, company tutors Simone Nicoletti (Software Developer Logistics Line) and Paola Gorgaini (Software Developer Transport Line) drew up an action plan that included targeted technical training.
The students focused on:
- How EasYard works, with particular attention to the TV monitor
- Programming languages and technologies used:
- C#
- Visual Studio
- SQL Server Manager
- Swagger
- HTML
- CSS
- Structure and languages of a web application and use of APIs
- Basics of cybersecurity and penetration testing
From theory to practice
Having acquired the basic skills, the students were split into two groups: one dedicated to the backend and one to the frontend. Halfway through the project, the groups swapped roles to ensure that everyone enjoyed a comprehensive experience and to encourage discussion.
The main activities included:
- Creating mockups of the homepage and TV monitor
- Implementing the following features:
- Travel management
- Compliance checking
- Document acquisition and attachment
Final presentations and conclusions

Just like always, at the end of the programme, the company organises a final presentation where the students can share their work with their colleagues in the office. It's a real chance for them to talk about their experience, test their technical language skills, and interact with people who work in the industry every day.
In this context, the four students presented the results of their work: a mobile-optimised homepage, a monitor for trip management, and the option to attach documents. Together with their tutors, they discussed the next steps for further improving the product.
A formative and stimulating experience

The internship turned out to be a valuable experience: the students learned to work in a team, experienced the atmosphere of a young, dynamic and welcoming environment, and interacted with professionals in the sector, receiving practical training on programming languages and current tools.
Engaging with a real business environment helps them understand whether this type of work reflects their expectations and aspirations, enabling them to decide whether to continue along their chosen path or to gain new insights, perhaps discovering different directions to take in their professional future.
