Raap Trading is a young but strongly and steadily growing company in domestic and international B2B trading.


In little more than 10 years, it has grown from a 420-square-meter warehouse, operated in an entirely manual manner, to its current logistics structure of 10,000 square meters that hosts over 15,000 pallet spots.


 Raap Trading's business model is distinguished by an unusual approach in the market: 


- focus on finding the most convenient offer, rather than on quantity and variety of products; 


- reduced number of human resources; 


- very low capacity storage compared to the industry average (about 2,000 items).

LOGISTICS NEEDS

As a result of the exponential growth of the business, it became necessary to invest in a project to standardize processes and advance technology


In the past, during peak demand periods it was often necessary to open an extra day a week and ask employees for overtime hours to stay on top of orders.


Optimizing time and resource management in the preparation and delivery of orders is key for the Campania-based company, which has set two main goals: maximizing speed and efficiency of both logistical and administrative processes.

GOALS

Raap Trading chose to partner with Replica Sistemi for the implementation of two software programs: the StockSystem WMS for warehouse logistics management and the Microsoft Dynamics BC ERP for the administrative side, with the aim of speeding up and maximizing the efficiency of the work done by company resources.

The WMS manages all processes related to warehouse logistics, which is now fully automated: from goods receipt, through warehousing, picking and item preparation, to order dispatch.



The ERP was introduced to manage all commercial processes - procurement, purchase orders, sales and promotional lists - and back office - accounting, administration. 


The interface was developed in a multilingual version to simplify use by international customers and partners.

Voice terminals are mainly used for picking small items.


Voice technology drastically reduces the time required to search and catalog goods, as well as to train new operators: the system learns to recognize each and any new voice within a few hours



In contrast, handheld terminals with barcode readers are suitable for handling whole pallets, which are commonly purchased by Raap Trading's international customers.

Thanks to the digitilization process, business processes and habits have been updated to a more modern and efficient modus operandi.


The first clear result was an increase in turnover: 14% higher than the previous year.


Logistics operators were able to independently manage inbound and outbound flows within days of the introduction of StockSystem and integrated technologies, fostering an increase in production within the first two months of using the products.


The management of orders and shipments is much more streamlined: as of today they can manage the loading and unloading of 12-13 trucks per day, while the previous daily average was 8-9 trucks.


Despite the increase in sales and warehouse flows, there has been no need to increase the physical capacity of the facility, nor the fixed expenses, number of operators, or labor hours.

The collaboration with Replica Sistemi continues in the pursuit of new opportunities and custom developments to take full advantage of the products.

The next planned step is the production of statistical sales and purchase reports using the Power BI platform.
